Infant mortality rates weren’t good then, many men were lost at sea. The average life expectancy of an adult was around 40. There were some of course who did made it to a ripe old age.

Interesting information and pics on St James...I have found out lots of the Burwill and Burville families were married, buried or christened/baptised at St James, I'm not sure what one but its listed as St James Dover or Dover St James, would be interesting to know which....very interesting stuff.

Does anyone know if the parish records are online so I can have a look around them?

Tez there is a woman Harris named on the parish records as well. Look up the Muddle family history. under index or put name in search. You will find it of interest, as the muddle family lived at 9 Athol Terrace, Guston. Had to look twice though, apparently back then it was under Guston, not Dover. Hope you enjoy it Tez, i did.:)

I believe we are all born psychic but around age 7 most of us start to lose it unless we develop it further. Children don't question what they see like us adults, they are innocent and more receptive. Animals like cats and dogs seem to pick up on things too. It's like they are on the right wave length.

It's still in there somewhere if you have had the ability that long. I kind of switched mine off when I went to a Catholic convent school. My classmates called me a witch and turned crucifixes upside or tried to spin their heads around like the Exorcist when I went into class. It didn’t help that when we had to attend mass at the local church instead of assembly on Thursday mornings I was always sick, I’m talking projectile vomiting every time I entered this church. I was obviously the devils spawn! :icon_twisted:

Charming classmates they were. I see it as a gift, that should be appreciated a lot. I mean its not everybody that has this. sceptics are usually ones that havnt had any experiences of this kind of thing, but as i say each to your own. I found paranormal books of interest, especially on human combustion, probally spealt that wrong. I know it sounds weird but its strange how even medical peoplke cant explain hown it happened.

Malts, "Kids and children"? Is there a difference?

Howard, "spiders winging their way to Jeane"? Surely they would leg it?

Jeane, I've seen the "man in black", for about 4 hours when I was 18. My wife saw him some years later, shortly after he appeared, an acquaintance who also saw him jumped out of a window and killed themselves. Do NOT take this aparition lightly.

Having studied a fair amount of science based subjects (Criminology, Thanatology an now Mortuary Science) I try to see if certain things can be explained rationally and if they can’t well…… I’ve always seen and felt things from an early age. I too consider it a gift and it still amazes me now when I do readings or investigations and get things spot on or that can be verified. I hope I’ll always be like that, I never want to take it for granted.
Human combustion is certainly an interesting subject.

Sid that's awful. I have seen many strange things over the years and I can honestly say most of them haven't bothered me but that one was evil. I have learned how to protect myself in this line of work.

Thanatology - sounds like studying the Isle of Thanet to me, I too am intrigued with this one!:icon_biggrin:

Come to think of it, did you know:

The word Thanet comes from the Roman word TANATUS meaning Isle of the DEATH! Quite apt really for this thread! The Romans believed the place was haunted and thats why they never went there! (well apart from Richborough or Rutipae as they knew it due however it was linked to this side of the Wantsum estuary!)

You are not thick, I should have explained as it's not a common 'ology'. Thanatology is basically death studies, what happens to the body when we die, burial customs etc.

So Thanatology, meaning death studies, I presume that comes from the same root meaning of the Isle of Thanet as I mentioned above.

Odd the link there that Thanet/Tanatus means death and so does Thanatology - how interesting!
