As part of this year’s Diamond Jubilee Celebrations, Dover Town Council are inviting people to come along to the Market Square on 4th June and watch a live broadcast of the Queen’s Concert incorporating the lighting of Dover’s Beacon on the Big Screen, live from Dover Castle.

The evening kicks off at 7pm, with LA Music providing a live acoustic set, followed by a broadcast of the Queen’s Concert from 8pm, which includes acts such as Sir Elton John, Paul McCartney, JLS and Jessie J.

At approximately 10pm there will be a live satellite transmission of the lighting of Dover’s Beacon, situated at Dover Castle being shown on a split screen.

The event is being supported by Dover Arts Development (DAD) who will be running a special Jubilee themed Bunting Forever workshop making pom-poms, felt flowers, flags and bunting.

The Mayor said “This is set to be an exciting summer of celebrations in Dover with both the Queen’s Jubilee and the Olympic Games around the corner. We hope to see as many local people as possible turn out to celebrate with their friends, family and the wider community.”

There will be a special Jubilee cup cake stall and some additional seating provided in the Market Square, though people are encouraged to bring their own picnic tables and chairs if they wish.

Hoping to come along to that, it sounds like fun.
Fingers crossed the weather is now set for the next few months.
